About AEN

The Association of Ethiopian Neurologists, originally known as the Association of Neurological Science of Ethiopia (ANSE), was established in 1996 with 11 members. Dr. Tadios Munie was the President, Prof. Guta Zenebe served as Secretary, and Prof. Legesse Zerihun as Treasurer.

In 2007, at a meeting held at Atlas Resorts in Dukem, Dr. Aynalem G/Mariam became the new President of ANSE, Dr. Zenebe Melaku the Secretary, Dr. Mehila Zebenigus the Treasurer, and Dr. Mersha Abebe and Dr. Birhanu as executive members. The meeting was attended by 16 neurologists, neurosurgeons, and neuro-radiologists.

In 2019, the Association was reestablished and re-registered with:

  • Dr. Hanna Demissie as President,
  • Dr. Yared Zenebe as Vice President,
  • Dr. Dereje Melka as Internal Auditor,
  • Dr. Fikru Tsehayneh as Treasurer,
  • Dr. Meron Awraris as Secretary,
  • Along with Dr. Birrie Derese, Dr. Abreha, and Dr. Enkutatsh as members of the Executive Committee.

The Association of Ethiopian Neurologists is dedicated to fostering camaraderie among its members and collaborating with stakeholders to advance neurological services, education, and research in Ethiopia. Additionally, the association builds collaborative networks at various levels, sustains its mission through income-generating activities, and conducts awareness-raising events, all while advocating for the rights of neurologists.

The registered office is now located at Eshetu Mamo and Family Tower, 7th Floor, Office Number 710, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
